SANDF not transparent about alleged DRC transgressions - Pikkie Greef

The South African Defence Force is investigating allegations of misconduct involving their members deployed in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

It is alleged that the soldiers have assaulted a 17-year-old male and sexually harassed a number of females in the region in which they are stationed.

What should happen is that there should be a proper investigation by the military authorities. If that investigation shows prima facie evidence that there was a transgression, then those soldiers that are implicated should be charged in military court.

Advocate Pikkie Greef, SANDU Secretary General

Although the soldiers are deployed under the United Nations mission to the DRC, South Africa has to obligation to investigate any allegation made towards it's members.

Listen to Advocate Greef explain what could happen should the soldier be found guilty...
