This is how much you should be paying your domestic worker

As of 1 January a new national minimum wage was set by the Department of Labour.

Stephen Rathai, director of employment standards at the Department of Labour says this figure is determined by the size of the town and the number of working hours.

For the big towns, where people work more than 27 hours per week, it is R13,05 per hour. And for the small towns, the rural towns its R11,80 per hour. This is where people work more than 27 hours per week. Those who are working less than 26 hour per week, its R15,28 for big towns and for small towns its R14,03.
