At only 24, Pompey Modjela runs a bus company over three provinces

Since its inception, Modjela Outsourcing Group has been able to uplift local communities by employing, mentoring and developing lifelong skills of employees.

Pompey Modjela, founder and managing director, Modjela Outsourcing says his grandfather owned a bus company 68 years ago, which he now owns and runs, continuing his grandfather's legacy.

Modjela provides transport to scholars services in Limpopo, Gauteng and the North West.

The young entrepreneur explains that ninety percent of their work is through government contracts, adding that if they receive late payment he is then unable to pay suppliers, drivers and purchase diesel on time.

We've managed to persevere and looking to increase our fleet to six, in the next year.

I grew in the workshop with my father, I know my way around a bus engine.

Modjela explains that getting financial support from banks and potential funders has been a huge obstacle especially towards purchasing new buses.

He says he learned planning, perseverance and determination since the beginning of his entrepreneurial journey.

I'm only 24 and one of the challenges of being so young in this industry is not being taken seriously.
